Nirvana的演唱会，但是却很安静，在安静的气氛中进行的Nirvana的演唱会。没有以往的狂热气氛，变态嘶吼，噪音，脱衣服，砸鼓，摔吉他，．．．什么都没有，只有安静，音乐和Kurt Cobain。
这就是Nirvana的纽约不插电演唱会，而这一切都被收录在这张唱片里，成为永恒。
当天Kurt Cobain的开场白是:"如果你今天到此目的只是想来high一下的话，那么请回吧。我肯定会令你失望的。"
随后Kurt坐在椅子上怀抱吉他，就像抱着一个刚刚睡着的孩子一样，开始吟唱他的成名曲目。一首首以往驰骋沙场，杀气腾腾的名曲，此时竟然都温柔下来，伴着会场的百合花香，萦绕在空气中。
以往要听上百遍才能感受到的Kurt的孩童般的灵魂，此时被毫无掩饰地展现出来。快拳固然厉害，浓缩武学精华的太极拳却更有杀伤力。正因如此，MTV Unplugged in New York被奉为摇滚江湖的顶尖武功秘籍之一。
在唱到最后一曲Where Did You Sleep Last Night?的结束部分时Kurt Cobain发出了一声短促的哀叹，当时他的无邪，虚无的眼神恐怕是很多Nirvana粉丝们一生都难忘的。
在这场演唱会后不久，就传来了Kurt Cobain自杀的消息。MTV Unplugged in New York也实质上成为了他的告别演唱会。
